It is great to listen to someone who is so excited about teaching and touching the lives of children. I wish you many more years as a top-notch teacher. As a side note- I'm still working on the words for "Respect" Thank you!

Comments:Your blog and guestbook comments are revealing the best possible picture of you and the students and teachers you represent. As the other teachers across our state prepare to participate in the final TOY selections to be recognized this spring, I know your heart and mind are overflowing. It just seems like yesterday that you were wringing your hands and wondering outloud as you entertained the thought that this could possibly happen to you. I knew in 2001 when we met that great things were in the picture for you and your students. I still have that same crazy feeling Ann Marie.

Comments:Thanks so much for attending and speaking at our Alpha Mu meeting last night. Your energy is exactly the characteristic that all classes need, no matter what level or proficiency. Also, our fellow teachers need that energy, also. Education courses are sometimes so draining because they are so boring--but how could something we love be boring? If the instructor is not pumping the energy into the group of students, it can certainly seem to be. So any class in any subject can make use of the ideas that you shared with us. I have several photos I want to send to you from our meeting. If you will send me a tiny note, I will forward them to you in attachments.

I knew that God's plan was clear for you when all of this came about - You are and will continue to inspire so many young people this year to be drawn to Special Education. We love you and miss you, but are so grateful to God for giving you this opportunity to share your vision for educating our "special" children. A special story from Kim: The other day someone asked Kim who her teacher was. Her response: "Mrs. Jennifer, 'cause Taylor is Teacher of the Year." What a GREAT opportunity to be able to express your thoughts/concerns about NCLB and have them heard by someone with voting power in Congress! Even more wonderful, though, are the posts from students who are inspired by your devotion and get to witness your love for special needs students. (Anyone whose heard you speak as witnessed this passion.) Keep up the excellent job of lobbying for educators and for students. Don't forget to stop by PTH when you have a free minute.

Comments:Hi Ann, It's been a long ride since those first classes at FMU when you asked Dr. Taylor if he was a preacher. He may not have been a preacher of religious education, but he was a preacher for kids with differences. He charged us with making a difference and providing kids with the tools to be more than they ever thought they could be. I see you are continuing to do that every day. There are a lot of us out there who sometimes feel we are never going to make a change in someone's life. The trials are tough many days. However, you show us that if we continue to stay strong and not give up that we will eventually reap the rewards. Keep the voice strong. Shellie
